Horse trekking in Fiordland

Horse trekking is an experience inherent to our New Zealand culture and particularly our pristine corner of the country, Fiordland, New Zealand.  Southland in particular is home to many Standard bred horses and plenty of Local Fiordlanders own and ride a horse as a sport and/or hobby.

Fiordland offers some of the many different landscapes that make us proud to be New Zealanders.  From green farm pastures, rough back country, bogs and scrub land, rivers, beech forests, lakes and spectacular mountain ranges.  The mountain ranges that can be viewed from horseback are the Grand Takitimus, the Mighty Hunter Mountains, the well known Kepler Mountain Range, the picturesque Murchison and the tops of the Stuart Mountains.  The horse treks will take you over typical Fiordland farm land where you can view sheep, deer and cattle in their paddocks and natural surroundings.  Fiordland is also home to some beautiful birds such as the robin, bellbird, tui, fantail, shining cuckoo, kea, fernbird and silver eye to name a few, some of which you may see from horseback.
